Improvements Districts in Wandsworth
– Positively Putney and Wandsworth
Town – which have been incredibly
successful in raising money to help
fund important local investments.
Local businesses working together with
Wandsworth Council to improve their
area – it’s a great partnership approach.
We are now looking to extend this
model to Clapham Junction and in
time to Balham and Tooting.
Another factor for our success is the
combination of a highly skilled workforce
and Wandsworth’s central location with
excellent transport links.
We’ve seen these links strengthen further
recently with the opening of a new pier
at Battersea Power Station’s Circus West
Village. This now links us, through the
River Bus service operated by MBNA
Thames Clippers, to Embankment,
Blackfriars and Canary Wharf via a
network of piers along the Thames.
And this will be followed by the opening of
the Northern line extension in 2020 which
will add further connectivity to Battersea
and London’s newest neighbourhood -
Nine Elms - where we are creating an
exciting new destination.
We also are doing everything we can to
make Wandsworth a great place to invest
and this is borne out by the announcements
that Apple will be moving to Nine Elms
in the next few years and that the Royal
College of Art is building its new south
London student campus in Battersea.
These high profile digital and technology
institutions coming to Wandsworth will
open up real opportunities for our
residents and have a definite knock-on
effect in encouraging complementary
companies to make a similar move.
This Brighter Borough’s future is set to
be brighter still.
